We designed 8no. new build farm style holiday lets and a manager's house at Ballagan in the green belt of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. The hayloft style dormers, differing roof heights, coping and skew details were carefully designed to appear part of an evolved historic Scottish Farm while function to the high standard as would be expected of a 21st Century building. The deliberate material choices of Scottish harling, recycled flagstone (which was sourced from the very same site) and slate all honour the Scottish Barn aesthetic. Work finished spring 2021. This development proves that with careful design a commercial building can be aesthetically pleasing, functional and profitable. Commercial building does not have to mean "off the shelf" and a Green Belt site doesn't mean "off limits".
